The Pattern behind Every Servant-Leader

At PointingToJesus.org we measure leadership by a single standard: the way Jesus governed hearts while stooping lower than anyone expected.

He took on flesh (John 1:14), trading the throne for a feeding trough so no distance would remain between God and us. He washed the dust from twelve ordinary feet (John 13) while knowing those feet would soon scatter in fear. He carried a Roman crossbeam through Jerusalem’s alleyways—an act reserved for the guilty—though He alone was innocent. His crown was woven from thorns, His scepter a reed placed in mockery, yet He turned the ridicule into a royal procession that disarmed every power of darkness (Col 2:15).

When crowds pressed for miracles, He first looked for the hungry (Mark 6:34–37). When leaders grasped for titles, He set a child in their midst (Matt 18:1–4). He touched lepers, welcomed outsiders, wept at a friend’s tomb, and listened to the lonely whisper of a Samaritan woman. His final instructions were not corporate metrics but a towel, a basin, and a table set with bread and wine.

Because the King chose the lowest seat, resurrection lifted Him to the highest (Phil 2:6–11). Today He still shepherds by intercession, bearing wounds that plead for mercy. We follow that pattern: authority expressed through service; vision carried on bent knees; influence measured by how well love is felt at the margins.

Everything we plan, print, sing, or stream is meant to echo this single headline:

“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)

If our work ever shines more brightly than that sentence, we will gladly dim the lights and start again—because true leadership is still spelled C-R-O-S-S.
